This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit ashleysimcox.com, why, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. Short version: this site collects very little. There are no advertising trackers. Data is processed when you visit the site (technical server logs), when you take the quiz, when you email me, or when you interact with the third-party services named below.
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, Netlify automatically processes technical data (IP address, date and time of access, browser type, operating system, referrer URL) in server log files. This is necessary to deliver the website reliably and securely.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and reliable provision of this website). Netlify processes data on my behalf under a data processing agreement. Transfers to the USA are safeguarded by the EU standard contractual clauses and Netlify's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Log data is retained by Netlify for a limited period and is not merged with other data sources by me.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR where your inquiry relates to a (potential) contract, otherwise Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering correspondence). Emails are retained as long as needed for the correspondence and any statutory retention periods.
If you take the quiz, the following data is processed: your quiz answers, your result, and the contact details you enter (name, email address). This data is stored in a spreadsheet operated via Google Sheets and Google Apps Script (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent: Google LLC, USA). The purpose is to show you your result, and, where you have consented, to send you related content by email.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR (your consent, given when you submit the quiz). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future by emailing ashley@ashleysimcox.com; your data will then be deleted unless statutory retention duties apply. Transfers to the USA by Google are safeguarded by EU standard contractual clauses and Google's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Registration for live workshops is handled by Luma (Luma Technology, Inc., USA) on luma.com. If you register, you do so directly on Luma's site under Luma's own privacy policy (https://luma.com/legal/privacy). This website only links to Luma and transmits no personal data to it. In connection with events, I receive from Luma the registration details you provide (name, email, your answers to registration questions) and process them to run the event, send event communications, and, where announced at registration, follow-up materials.

My newsletter is published via Substack (Substack Inc., USA). Signing up happens on Substack under Substack's privacy policy (https://substack.com/privacy). If you subscribe, Substack processes your email address on my behalf to deliver the newsletter.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR (consent, via your subscription). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
For certain email sequences I use MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, Ground Floor, 71 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, Ireland). If you have consented to receive emails (for example via the quiz or a workshop registration), your email address and related data are processed in MailerLite to send you the announced content.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR (consent). Every email contains an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing withdraws your consent with effect for the future.
This site embeds videos from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) using YouTube's extended privacy mode ("youtube-nocookie.com"). In this mode, YouTube does not set cookies before you play a video. When you press play, a connection to YouTube/Google servers is established and YouTube processes data (including your IP address) under Google's privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in presenting video content in a privacy-friendly manner); from the moment you actively play a video, Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR.
The fonts on this website are self-hosted. No connection to Google Fonts or other external font services is established when you visit this site.
This site uses TLS/SSL encryption. Data you transmit to this site cannot be read by third parties in transit.
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To exercise any of these rights, email ashley@ashleysimcox.com.

Providing personal data is neither legally nor contractually required to visit this website. Without certain data (e.g., an email address for the quiz result or a workshop registration), the respective service simply cannot be provided.
